How is this different from the seating chart generator?

This assigns seats one spin at a time in front of the class, which feels fair and lets you stop early. The seating chart generator produces a whole arrangement at once when you'd rather set it up before students arrive.

Can I keep certain students apart?

A random draw can't enforce that. Assign the seats, then swap two by hand if a pairing won't work — or plan those placements first and spin only for the remaining seats.

Can I reserve a seat?

Yes — just delete that seat from the wheel before you start, and place the student there directly. Spin for everything that's left.
